공간을 점령하라!

예술가가 주체가 되고, 집단이 되어 전시공간을 습격하는 본 전시는 많은 것이 모일수록 그 어떠한 의미구현이 모호해 질 수 있는 현재 블록버스터급의 전시를 비롯한 멀티 복합문화 스타일의 전시구현 현상에 대한 현상을 밀집적으로 구현해 낸다. 개개인의 작업과 전시의 성향은 월등하지만, 그러한 다양한 소스와 주제의 전시들이 여러 개가 얽힐 때 우리는 결국 그 어떠한 특징 에피소드를 기억하기 쉽지 않다. 그래서 오히려 비판적 비평을 모면하는 위기에 봉착하기도 한다. 그곳에 기획자의 고유한 시선이 존재하는가. 그렇지 않다는 전제가 이번 프로젝트의 출발점이다. 이번 전시는 기획자의 시선을 배제된 형식의 전시를 작가의 주체적 시각으로 돌려 꾸려진다. 전시에는 50명 이상의 작가가 참여하며, 한 작가의 고유적인 시각보다 작가의 작품자체가 매개되어 읽혀지는 시선의 결과론적 현상을 감각으로 전달하게 된다. 2014년 공간을 습격한 작가들, 그들이 점령한 공간, 그들로 인해 점령당한 공간의 시각을 포획하기 위한 타인을 초대한다.

에필로그 ● 본 전시는 지난 2010년과 2011년에 아트스페이스 정미소에서 전시했던 이창훈, 이원호 작가의 컨텍을 시작으로 출발되었다. 두 작가가 해석해낸『공간을 점령하라』의 시선이 곧 참여하게 되는 모든 55명의 작가에게 퍼져나갔고, 전시를 위한 각 개인들은 정미소에 입장하는 순간 점령과 동시에 전시의 기획자의 역할도 일부 하게 되었다. 그들이 입장과 동시에 어느 위치에 자신의 작업을 놓아야 하는지에 대한 고민을 시작으로 앞으로 맺어지지 않은 이야기들이 어떠한 결과를 낳게 될지 기다리고, 지켜보는 전시장 내부인이 되었다. In this exhibition, artists gain agency and as a group invade the exhibition space. It realizes the concentrated phenomena of the current blockbuster-scale exhibition, which may become vague in its expression of meaning, and the multi-complex cultural style of exhibition presentation. While the work of individuals and the style of the exhibition may be excellent, when exhibitions of various sources and themes entwine it becomes difficult to remember particular episodes. This in turn poses the danger of eluding critical review. Does the unique perspective of the exhibition planner exist there? This project is based on the premise that it does not. This exhibition is organized along the perspectives of artists as agents, excluding the viewpoint of the exhibition planners. Over 50 artists are participating in the exhibition, allowing visitors to experience the phenomena of each artist's work serving as a medium to join individual perspectives, rather than each artist's viewpoint separately. It is the year 2014, and artists have invaded the exhibition space. All are invited to capture the moment of the space that these artists have occupied. ■ LEEEUNJOO
